Textbooks
One of the key activities of the Centre for Educational Programmes is the development of textbooks for Nazarbayev Intellectual schools and general education schools across the country.
Since 2013, the Centre has been developing textbooks in close collaboration with leading international educational organisations:
Cambridge University Press;
Institute of Education, University College of London.
Textbooks:
correspond to students’ age, interests, and needs;
apply the principles of system-activity, value-based, learner-centered, and differentiated approaches;
provide for the gradual deepening, complication, and expansion of knowledge and skills;
incorporate new approaches to assessment;
focus on developing functional literacy;
develop research skills, critical thinking, the ability to extract and analyze information, and to apply acquired knowledge creatively;
build students’ independent learning skills;
incorporate Kazakhstani identity;
promote integration within subjects using a spiral curriculum design and across subjects through cross-cutting themes.
