About the 'NIS-Programme' Educational Programme

The educational process at Nazarbayev Intellectual schools is conducted according to the educational programme of Nazarbayev Intellectual schools AEO — NIS-Programme.

The NIS-Programme uses a comprehensive approach that takes into account the Kazakhstani context, national development priorities, and international trends in secondary education.

Programme structure

The NIS-Programme covers the following education levels:

  • primary education (grades 1–5),

  • lower secondary education (grades 6–10),

  • upper secondary education (grades 11–12).



Subject programmes across all education levels are based on the principle of continuity (spiral approach) and coherence, whereby each learning objective builds progressively from grade to grade and from one level of education to another

Trilingual education

  • In Grades 1-2, the subjects “World understanding” and “ICT” are delivered in the language of instruction.

  • English is taught starting from Grade 1.

  • The second language is introduced from Grade 1.

Methodological support

The Centre provides training sessions and seminars on modern teaching approaches for teachers at Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools and other educational institutions that implement the NIS-Programme
