Students from rural support schools took prizes at the international Roboland festival

news
On November 6, 2023, the VIII international robotics festival Roboland ended in Karaganda. This year, more than 900 participants from 6 countries competed in 16 disciplines. The festival is organized by the Education Department of the Karaganda Region, the Foundation for Sustainable Development of Education and the Kazdidac Association, with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main sponsor of the robotics festival was the largest Kazakh agricultural holding AITAS.

This year, thanks to the support of partners and sponsors, the geography of the festival has grown significantly. In addition to teams from all regions of Kazakhstan, participants from Portugal, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and other countries also came to Karaganda. In addition, more than 30 teams represented rural support schools that take part in projects of the Fund for Sustainable Development of Education.

“Our projects are aimed at increasing the level of education in rural areas and reducing the gap between the quality of education in the city and the countryside. Now my partners and I are creating a network of support schools, which already includes more than 86 schools throughout Kazakhstan. Robotics classrooms are actively working in each of our schools; today there are more than 30 teams representing rural support schools. We tried to create all the conditions for them to participate and show good results,” says Daniyar Toktarbayev, director of the Foundation for Sustainable Development of Education.

Students from rural schools participated in all festival disciplines and age categories, where they took high places in a number of categories. Thus, a team of 8-9 grade students from the village of Beineu took third place in the “Kegelring Quad” discipline, in which the robots constructed by the participants had to push the pins beyond a limited line.

Another winner of the competition is Zhalgasbay Yersultan from the village of Bestamak, Alga district. He presented his work - a robot incubator. The idea appeared back in May, says the teacher of Yersultan, Zhansaya Kuatbay.

Another prize was given to the team from the village of Aktogay, Karaganda region. In the Robogeometry discipline, they lost to the team from Uzbekistan, which included participants in the World Robotics Championship.

The winners of the competition received letters of gratitude from the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gani Beissembayev and valuable prizes.
