A support school was presented in the village of Kogaly, Zhetisu region

On October 30, 2023, the second support school was presented in the Zhetisu region. The secondary school in the village of Kogaly, Kerbulak district, became a participant in a project to develop the potential of support schools in rural areas; 36 classrooms and workshops were updated in the secondary school. The project is being implemented by the public foundation “Qazaqstan Halqyna” together with the Foundation for Sustainable Development of Education and AEO “Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools”.
The project is aimed at improving the quality of education, introducing the best pedagogical practices and providing support schools with the necessary material and technical base. In addition to material and technical equipment, the school’s teaching staff will undergo training and receive methodological support.
The village of Kogaly is located 120 km from the regional center, a former regional center and a large village in the Kerbulak region. The secondary school in the village was built in 1980. The status of a support school will give a new impetus to the development of both the school and the village, say teachers and the school director.
There have been no major renovations to the school since its construction. This year, after being included in the list of participants in the project “Capacity development of rural schools” local executive bodies allocated about 100 million tenge, which were used to repair the heating system and school building. School graduates also did not stand aside and provided support in the amount of 10 million tenge.
“Our school is designed for 1,200 students. However, it is not fully used. Having become a support school, we will be able to teach schoolchildren from nearby small villages. We also have a boarding school and are able to educate children from farms around Kogaly here. I think our school has enough potential,” says school director Nurgul Arpabekova.
