NIS contributes to capacity development of rural schools

Over the course of two days, Chairman of the Board of the AEO "Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools" Anuar Zhangozin, together with deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, took part in discussing and solving the problems of ungraded schools in the country, of which today there are 80% in the North Kazakhstan region.
Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, together with secondary schools, are implementing an important strategy aimed at reducing the gap in the quality of education between urban and rural schools. As part of this project, 17 rural schools across the country received NIS methodological support.
– In the North Kazakhstan region, NIS provides methodological assistance to the Kishkenekol secondary school No. 2 of the Ualikhanov district. And funds were allocated from the Foundation “Qazaqstan Halqyna” to update the material and technical base of educational institutions. By the end of this year, within the framework of this project, another 63 schools in the republic will be supported, and in 2024, 111 schools. Thus, by 2026, 191 rural schools will receive experience using the NIS methodology,” noted Anuar Zhangozin, Chairman of the Board of the AEO "Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools".
Anuar Zhangozin, together with the deputies, visited the Kyzylzhar Abay, Arkhangelsk secondary school. During the meetings, teachers and students asked questions that concerned them. By the way, 289 students study in these schools. They can take part in chemical and biological clubs, vocal, dombra, freestyle wrestling and robotics. Each class is provided with modern material and technical resources.
– The government is dealing with the problem of ungraded schools, some of the issues have already been resolved. The difference in the quality of education between rural and urban schools is great. If we compare the quality of education in rural schools in the North Kazakhstan region and the quality of education in urban schools in Kyzylorda, Turkestan or Aktau, then the quality of rural schools here is much higher. The Committee in the Mazhilis of Parliament has already prepared the relevant legislative amendments. But, before accepting them, we hold an off-site meeting, consult with specialists and local teachers,” noted Askhat Aimagambetov, Chairman of the Committee for Social and Cultural Development of the Mazhilis.
