Today, students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Aktobe have received the copyright for the invention of a device for detecting and preventing forest-steppe fires. The authors of the “Fire Finder” project are the tenth graders Aidana Kenzhebaeva and Samal Ali.
The device is equipped with temperature and infrared radiation sensors, as well as a mobile communication module. When the ground is heated during a fire, the sensors give a signal, and the information about the fire comes in the form of an SMS message to a mobile phone. The message will indicate the code or address of the place. For now, the device can recognize fire within a radius of 1 square kilometer. However, if the power built into the device gets higher, then the radius of their action will increase significantly. In the future, it is planned to implement the project in emergency services. The system can also be used in conservation areas and farms, where the damage from steppe fires is especially noticeable.
– My grandfather is engaged in agriculture, and every year I hear how much damage the steppe fires brings. No one can determine the time whether there are fires or not. Therefore, I have come across this situation many times, – Aidana shared.
Students have presented this invention at the national robotics championship in Pavlodar in the Smart City nomination. As a result, the girls were awarded the first place. Recently, the project has been selected among 13 best projects of the national forum “APK Synergy of Youth”.
Young inventors have designed a fire detection device three times. The head of the robotics club at the school Bauyrzhan Shokanov, where the girls have developed the project, notes the main advantage of the device which is high reliability, autonomy and the possibility of using this method in areas where there is no connection.
