STEM projects of Kazakhstani IB teachers impressed Europeans

The three-day educational festival took place in the Portuguese city of Cascais. Following the motto "Skills for the Future", 450 teachers from over 30 countries came together to present and exchange their innovative teaching concepts in a fair, in workshops and in short lectures.

A team of teachers from Kazakhstan presented the interest of European colleagues STEM projects in such categories as "Sustainable development in the teaching of science", "Digital literacy and teaching of science", "Accessible and "recycled "science", "Science at an early age."The jury recognized the project of the teachers of the capital Nazarbayev Intellectual School Serik Mukanov, Kimbat Dyusembaeva “Air Garden” as the best in the nomination “Highly Commended Award”.

According to the developers, the project demonstrates the integration of knowledge in such subjects as biology, chemistry, physics, robotics, engineering, design. In their work, teachers showed the process of vertically growing plants based on an automated aeroponic installation created in collaboration with students from various tools and the Lego EV3 microcomputer.
The authors of the project are sure that this automated model is a clear example of the integrated training of science and technology-related subjects.
